When the body of Holly Wood’s surly spouse, Dutch, is found on their lawn like a fallen pink flamingo, the question not only becomes who killed Dutch Wood, but who wouldn’t want to?
Holly Wood is the easy-going director of a faith-based senior citizens activity center. She is also in the process of seeking a divorce from her curmudgeon of a husband, Dutch. But one day, his corpse is discovered with a bullet hole to the head. Although there are plenty of people who wouldn’t mind seeing Dutch take up permanent residence beneath the ground, Holly is worried about her name surfacing to the top of the police list of suspects. Despite having an alibi Holly does not rule out the possibility of them thinking she solicited a hired gun to “take care of her problem” and banked on splitting an inheritance with her son. With the assistance of her best friend, Coco, Holly dons an amateur sleuth cap and compiles a list of suspects of her own. New to the game, Holly forges through hilarious and dangerous antics involving Dutch’s equally crazy family, a reluctant witness, and a murder attempt on her son’s life.

In this much anticipated sequel to Keep Your Enemies Closer, Charlotte Morley is still in South Carolina waiting to learn the fate of a relative. In the meantime, there is another loved one caught up in some serious scandal. Charlotte had assumed that her Aunt Ramiyah’s motive for killing her husband was due to an abusive marriage. However, in a series of letters written to Charlotte by Ramiyah it is revealed that the true motive springs deep from beneath the family tree and is steep in secret sins.
Also joining the eclectic and sometimes eccentric cast of characters is the effervescent Hiawatha Jones. Hiawatha, the son of the tart-tongued-tell-it-like-it-is Miss Sista, needs to be delivered from a few issues of his own.
This delicious slice of life story is filled with suspense, humor and insight. Deliver Me From My Enemies deftly demonstrates how God can use or heal anybody in or from anything.
OMG! I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting for the sequel. But seriously, the faith that is displayed in this book and the descriptions of the fruits of the Spirit are awesome. The book grabs your interest and holds it from cover to ... WeRead.com reviewer.
A reader from Tennesee writes...I finished the book and it was great. I must ask is there a sequel to this book. It would be good to know how Miyah, Hiawatha and Timmi are doing? I can't wait to read the next book. What is the name of it and when is the estimated date for it to be in the bookstores. I am sure it is going to be an awesome read. All of your books are good. Keep allowing God to use you in doing something that you love.
Author Sharon Oliver continues the humor, abiding faith, mystery, deception and surprises as the unraveling of the Morley family continues in the sequel, "Deliver Me From My Enemies." In the novel, "Keep Your Enemies Closer," Charlotte has taken a summer retreat to her grandparents home. Charlotte is joined by her cousins, Tina and Terry and later her best friend, Timmi. With Tina and Terry and Uncle Charles' saga almost over, Charlotte is beginning to relax again. She gets the chance to visit with her long time friend, Hiawatha, who has returned back home for a visit. Hiawatha and his mother, Sista, adds the humor that keeps you laughing throughout the novel. Then the letter writing starts. Letters that begin to open up a Pandora's box. From the dead, Charlotte discovers the generational stain of her family. The side of the family she never knew much about. Charlotte is faced with the most devastating news of her life. Will she question God? Will she turn from God? Yes, she is a minister, but even a minister's faith can get withered. will she be able to abide in God during this tribulation that is heart-rendering? I enjoyed the scriptures written into the storyline. They made for wise counsel to the story. At first I didn't recognize the connection of the novels' titles to the story. Later, I understood that the word enemies is not always referred to persons, but enemies are also deception, anger, lying, etc. Sharon Oliver, a wonderful Christian fction writer. Sharon Oliver is a gifted writer…she has a great sense of humor…I laughed and laughed. It was great how she touched on generational curses, because they do exist and how people are ashamed of their past, but decide to forgive in order that they may be healed and set free from the past. This was a wonderful read – Reviewer on Shelfari.com

What People Are Saying!
Even though the theme is very familiar and traditional, I felt it was still entertaining with characters such as Timmi and Sista. The author's style of writing is simple, easy and humurous. She wrote the book so that it flowed quite effortlessly. Even through the twists and turns this book takes with her style of writing, she does not lose you.
All of the characters in the book are all three dimensional and very interesting, entertaining and complex. The theme of this book to me is the goodness of God and things we look at as a disaster God sees it as an opportunity to bless us. The theme is really intertwined in the book from beginning to end and there is never a time in this book where you are guessing about the theme.

With Sharon's Oliver's brilliant writing style, you will find yourself easily captivated by the endearing characters lives, with all of their colorful and complicated "quirks." Ms. Oliver weaves a storyline so suspenseful that you will actually catch yourself holding your breath, waiting for the turning of the next page.
